Social Savvy Sundays with Tam – How to measure your return on investment

February 3, 2013Comments Off

Are you still fiddling about and not sure why you need to do social media? Are you investing the time and not sure what you’re getting out of your social media efforts?

Would you like to feel capable and calm this week because you know what you’re getting from it Superstar …. finally, what a sigh of relief right?

Some frequently asked questions we get at TJHQ is, how long should I do all this social media for and I don’t really know what I have to gain from it.

Ok, here it is…

Social media integrated with all of your other marketing activities will -

5. Nurture your existing relationships. Strong relationships build brand ambassadors for your business.

4. Keep your name, your business in front of people. A constant reminder that you’re there for them when they need you.

3. Generate traffic back to your website. This is where you want the crowds, seeing what you have to offer, more about you and the business. This is your virtual shop window.

2. Generate leads. You join, start and keep a conversation going, be real, be personable and follow up on these leads and close that deal.

1. Sign ups for your list. If you have something exciting to offer, you’re as good as you say you are (better yet your clients say you are) they will sign up and YOU know your list is the real gem of your business. Get them to your list through sharing your great offer on social networks.

This is why you should invest the time on your social media efforts and be consistent. Great relationships take time, so does social media.

The sparkling gems you need to stop the flaky. Don’t just read it, try and use the tools and work them into your own goals, perhaps from the examples. I would love to know how you get on. Send me a message here.

Measuring Tools – clicks, impressions, web traffic:

Tools like Hootsuite, Tweetdesk and Buffer. My favorite is Hootsuite. – www.hootsuite.com

Google Analytics – http://www.google.co.uk/analytics/

Examples of what you’re measuring –

•If a social media campaign is to drive sales, then your social media return is the number of sales that you can attribute to your social media campaign.
•If your goal is to drive consumer insights. In this case, your social media return is the quantity and quality of the consumer insights you get from your fans and followers.
•If your goal is to drive awareness of your brand, then your social media return is brand awareness.

Not seeing your instagram pics in twitter?

Straight from the twitter status blog on Sunday afternoon…

InstagramInstagram has disabled photo integration with Twitter. As a result, photos are no longer appearing in Tweets or user photo galleries. While tweeting links to Instagram photos is still possible, you can no longer view the photos on Twitter, as was previously the case.

Now you know. The good news seems to be that twitter will be having all the fancy filters by year end.

Have you seen this on facebook’s mobile photo uploads yet?

Happy snapping.

Check out #tamstagram on instagram or statigram for my posts – because they won’t be on twitter anymore.

See you there.

How to use Twitter for your small business

December 8, 2012 Comments

Powered by RBS and NatWest, the new online consumer and business resource hub is Bizcrowd. We  were recently approached as a twitter expert to share some tips on how to use the social network for business.

Bizcrowd.com talks to Tam Jackson, Social Media Manager and Trainer at Tam Jackson HQ, and Sarah Canet, Founder of Spoon PR Ltd about how small businesses can use Twitter to market their business.

Bizcrowd is connecting customers and businesses across the UK. Whether you need a service or product or simply need a question answered.

The response to this video from businesses in the UK has been great, with requests for us to do some more of these videos on how to use social networks and more importantly, how to use them for business.

Would you like to see more of them?

Connect with us on social media for updates too. Tweet @tamjacksonhq and pop on over to our facebook page too.

How to edit your twitter list name

November 19, 2012 Comments

Editting your twitter list names can be a bit tricky when working on a dashboard. For instance Hoot Suite, have temporarily disallowed the edit function of a list name – when not created in Hoot Suite.

This is a quick and easy way to change the name. Check out the steps in the screencast below.

If you found this interesting and think it could help, share it and spread the word. The simplest things are often the most helpful.
